Responsible for the implementation strategy of the Comprehensive Plan and Neighborhood Action Plan for the Planning Division. Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the long-range vision of the City of Danville, updates to state laws, planning trends and methods, and public outreach strategies. Coordinates community engagement and programs designed to strengthen neighborhoods for the Planning Division according to the Neighborhood Action Plan.
Performs customer service; receives and responds to requests for information related to long-range planning processes and procedures; provides information and answers questions regarding planning activities; interprets and explains applicable local, state, and federal, codes, ordinances, regulations, standards, and specifications.

- Serves as a technical expert for long range and neighborhood planning through oversight of the City’s Comprehensive Plan. Manages the implementation and annual reporting of the City's Comprehensive Plan, Implementation Strategy, and Neighborhood Action Plan.
- Reviews, manages, and processes complex long range planning requests/projects in conformance with the Comprehensive Plan, Development Code, and other adopted plans, studies, and development standards.
- Manages neighborhood plan development, outreach, and implementation, assisting neighborhoods with forming neighborhood associations and neighborhood maintenance and enhancement.
- Develops and manages neighborhood and community engagement strategies for the Planning Division and the department.
- Maintains files, records, and prepares reports related to grant activities for grants issued and received.
- Reviews and analyzes rezoning, subdivision, and site plans for comprehensive plan compliance.
- Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the long-range vision of the City of Danville, updates to state laws, planning trends and methods, and public outreach strategies; recommends changes and updates to planning regulations and policies in relation to changing demographics and other population shifts and updates and additions to laws and regulations.
- Provides customer service; receives and responds to requests for information related to long-range planning processes and procedures; provides information and answers questions regarding planning activities; interprets and explains applicable local, state, and federal, codes, ordinances, regulations, standards, specifications, policies and procedures; initiates problem resolution and/or negotiates resolution with various stakeholders.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Planning, or a related field; and a minimum of two years of professional level experience in long range planning.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific requirements listed above
Certifications/Licenses
- Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record according to City Criteria
