How You Will Help the Team

You will turn ideas into reality at the Center for Manufacturing Advancement (CMA)—a place built for precision, innovation, and real‑world impact. As a CNC Machinist, you’ll take concepts, drawings, and designs and transform them into high‑quality, tight‑tolerance parts that support advanced manufacturing projects, partners, and industries. Your work will help CMA deliver manufacturing optimization and innovation for the organizations we serve.

You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, technologists, and operations teammates to keep work moving efficiently, safely, and on schedule. Because CMA supports complex projects and external partners, you’ll also contribute to clear documentation, consistent processes, and a shop environment where quality and professionalism are non‑negotiable.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role at the Center for Manufacturing Advancement (CMA), you will have:

  • An associate’s degree or diploma in Precision Machining Technology, or equivalent relevant work experience
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of experience setting up and supporting complex CNC operations
  • Experience working in an ITAR‑regulated environment (preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Comprehensive knowledge of precision machining principles and practices
  • Extensive CNC experience, including multi‑axis machining, dual‑spindle lathes, mill/turn equipment, and related technologies
  • CAD/CAM experience and working knowledge (preferred)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • A customer‑service mindset with excellent interpersonal skills
  • A high level of attention to detail, strong organization skills, and the ability to multi‑task and troubleshoot in a fast‑paced, multi‑faceted work environment
Your Knowledge & Expertise

You bring hands‑on CNC machining experience and pride in craftsmanship.

Your Schedule

This position will work a first shift schedule:
Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The role supports the hands‑on, in‑person work that happens daily in the CMA shop and offers predictable hours that help you plan life outside of work. Occasional overtime may be required based on project demands, production schedules, or operational needs and will be compensated in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws.

This position is not eligible for remote or flexible scheduling due to the nature of CNC machining and on‑site equipment.

What Makes Working Here Different

This isn’t a job where you just stand at a machine and make the same part all day. At the Center for Manufacturing Advancement (CMA), you’ll work on a variety of real projects for real customers. One day you might be helping solve a manufacturing problem, the next you could be building parts that support national‑level work. The shop is well‑equipped, clean, and focused on doing things the right way.

CMA is also home to the U.S. Navy’s Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence, which means the work matters and quality is taken seriously. You’ll work with skilled people who know their craft, help each other out, and take pride in what they produce. If you like steady work, good equipment, and being part of a team that respects your skills, you’ll fit in here.

Opportunity Employer
