Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg Telemetry (Progressive Care Stepdown) position in Danville, VA, requiring PCU/telemetry experience and a valid VA or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Located on Floor 6A, a 36-bed Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a 250-bed academic community hospital
- Night shift schedule: 7P–7A
- Patient ratios are 1:4 for PCU and 1:6 for Telemetry; blended ratio of 1:5 when applicable
- Patient population includes all ages with common diagnoses such as CHF, AMI, respiratory failure, renal failure, DKA, and AFib
- EMR:
Meditech - Weekends required as needed
- On-call required as needed
- Floating to Med/Surg and ICU required, and may include travel within a 25-mile radius of the facility
- 13-week contract
- Provides care to a mixed telemetry and progressive care patient population across all age groups
- Consent to random on-site drug screening and completion of a Criminal Questionnaire/Consent Form are required
- Orientation is held bi-weekly on Tuesdays
- Any color scrubs are acceptable; casual wear is not permitted
- Holiday coverage is expected as assigned
- Danville, VA is approximately 45 miles north of Greensboro, NC, and offers parks, trails, historical architecture, and arts and culture along the Dan River
- Active RN license valid in Virginia (VA state license or compact license) required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, HWC, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — all must be obtained prior to start date; RQI certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 1–2 years of RN experience required
- PCU and telemetry experience required
- 2+ years of Med/Surg experience preferred
- Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
- Must not have been employed as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
- Cannot be employed elsewhere full time
- Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel rate
