OverviewThe Hughes Center is a highly-structured psychiatric residential treatment facility for youth ages 10–22 with neurodevelopmental disorders. It provides individualised and holistic care, multidisciplinary evaluations, evidence‑based treatment, and community‑based educational services.
ScheduleEvery Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7 pm to 7 am.

- Planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of nursing care on assigned unit for residents ages 10–22.
- Ensuring nursing services are provided in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care and the Interdisciplinary Plan of Treatment.
- Monitoring, reporting, and documenting residents’ behaviour and physiological status.
- Administering medications and performing treatments/procedures.
- Guiding the response to residents who are behaviourally out of control or who may be experiencing a crisis in collaboration with nurse manager and physician.
- Reporting accurately and concisely to oncoming shifts regarding conditions of residents.
- Current license to practice nursing in the State of Virginia (or eligible to receive or renew).
- Current CPR or BLS certification preferred (can renew during New Employee Orientation).
- Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire.
- Ability to successfully complete and pass all components of Handle With Care & Verbal De‑escalation Crisis Intervention Training.
- Ability to use and supervise Handle With Care (HWC) techniques.
- Reflect behaviour, attitude, and appearance appropriate to the position and support the facility’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.
- Effectively communicate verbally and via written documentation.
