Position Title
3rd Shift Nurse Manager
LocationSouthern Virginia Mental Health Institute, Danville, VA
Responsibilities- Lead a team of RNs, LPNs, and Psychiatric Care Technicians (PCTs) in providing nursing care to adult psychiatric patients (ages 18‑64) in a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary treatment team to provide collaborative trauma‑informed psychiatric care, prioritizing care according to patient acuity, and managing changes in patient behavior and/or physical condition.
- Supervise a team of nurses and PCTs on 3rd shift and oversee patient care and operations to ensure the highest level of patient care.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care from admission through discharge, offering supervision and support to nurses and PCTs.
- Current registered nurse license to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or license eligible; multi‑state compact endorsement accepted.
- Graduation from an accredited registered nurse program.
- Experience in psychiatric nursing.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Valid driver's license; must remain in good standing throughout employment.
- Skills:
clinical problem‑solving and patient management; effective communication; leadership, supervisory and managerial abilities; mentorship; excellent organizational skills; ability to multitask in fast‑paced environments; computer skills and knowledge of electronic health records; knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation/recovery models; knowledge of SVMHI admissions process. - Experience as a registered nurse and/or nurse supervisor in a psychiatric, healthcare facility, acute care, long‑term or correctional setting is an additional consideration.

- Competitive shift differentials: 1st shift weekend $5.50/hr; 2nd shift weekday $5.50/hr; 2nd shift weekend/holidays $6.00/hr; 3rd shift weekday $4.00/hr; 3rd shift weekend/holidays $7.00/hr.
