Quality Engineering, Process Engineer, Regulatory Compliance Specialist
A lithium battery separator manufacturer is hiring a Quality Engineer to support and improve quality systems, manufacturing processes, and product performance at its Danville, VA facility. The role works cross functionally with Operations, Engineering, R&D, Supply Chain, and Production to ensure products meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, and internal quality expectations.
Schedule: Full time, on site in Danville, VA.
Compensation: $90,000 to $110,000 base salary, with benefits detailed below.
What You'll Do: In this role, you will monitor manufacturing processes and product quality performance, analyze quality data and trends to identify improvement opportunities, and investigate product defects, process deviations, and customer complaints. You will support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation, participate in process validation, qualification, and product testing, and drive continuous improvement projects focused on quality, scrap reduction, and process variation using tools such as SPC, PFMEA, control plans, 5 Why analysis, and fishbone diagrams.
You will build working relationships across Quality, Operations, Engineering, R&D, and Production, ensure quality inspections, testing, reporting, and documentation are completed on schedule, and maintain ownership of assigned projects and investigations. You will also assist with internal audits, external audits, and customer quality assessments, maintain quality documentation, procedures, and work instructions, and support the corrective and preventive action (CAPA) process, all while following manufacturing, laboratory, and environmental safety procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Materials Science, or a related field
- Experience with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and/or ISO 14001 quality systems
- Experience with root cause analysis and process improvement methodologies
- Experience with SPC, PFMEA, control plans, and statistical analysis tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality reporting systems
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
- ASQ certification or equivalent quality certification
- 3 to 5 years of quality engineering experience in battery manufacturing, coatings, plastics, chemical processing, automotive, or industrial manufacturing
- Experience supporting a plant startup environment
- $90,000 to $110,000 base salary
