Truck Driver CDL A

Position Description

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Danville, VA. You will drive tractor‑cabs with dry vans or 48‑ and 53‑foot containers, hauling no‑touch freight such as packing supplies. The route is local home daily within a 250‑mile radius of Danville. You will operate a 36‑month (or newer) truck, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at over 800 nationwide locations.

The role is full‑time, Monday‑Friday, with a 1:00 – 4:00 AM dispatch window.

• Paid weekly
• Hourly pay: $23.13
• Estimated 50 hours per week
• Schedule:
  
  Monday – Friday, 1:00 – 4:00 AM dispatch

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years)
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements
• Minimum 9 months of Class A tractor‑trailer experience within last 3 years (or 2 years within last 5 years, or 5 years within last 10 years)
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards, maintaining accurate records and logs
• Load/Unload freight or assist in loading/unloading if required by customer
• Perform other duties as assigned
