Description

Primary Responsibilities:

Assists Head of Upper School in the overall administration of the Upper School.

Performs as a resource for teachers and staff who express concerns for student attendance, development and/or discipline.

Coordinates efforts with counselors in meeting with students and parents to discuss improving student attendance and/or behavior.

Consults with families via conference or communication systems concerning student attendance and behavior.

Resolves student behavior concerns in a fair and timely manner and maintains records of disciplinary or referral actions taken.

Assists in establishing rules governing student discipline.

Manages detention and In-School Suspension.

Monitors student attendance and communicates concerns to families.

Facilitates Student Drug Testing Program in concert with the school nurse.

Makes recommendations for appropriate revisions of policies and rules affecting student behavior.

Assists in discussing strategies to improve student performance, attendance and behavioral development.

Assists in developing and administering practices dealing with campus security.

Maintains active relationships with parents, families and students.

Responds to written and oral communication regarding student behavior and discipline matters.

Collaborate/coordinate with the Middle School Dean of Students.

Coordinate the Digital Citizenship Program with the Digital Citizenship Committee Chair.

Other duties as assigned by the Head of Upper, Director of Student Services and/or Head of School.

Secondary Responsibilities Include:

Oversees student clubs and their efficacy.

Supervises and evaluates all student life events and supports the Student Activities Coordinator in their implementation.

Develops and leads implementation of Advisory Curriculum alongside counseling office

Coordinates new student orientation and new student homeroom assignments

Oversees the articulation and infusion of core values in all facets of the school’s life.

Assumes responsibility when all administrators are out of the building.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

College degree required.

Strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving and organizational skills.

Experience in high school setting.
