Job Overview
May 2026 graduates are encouraged to apply. This is a full‑time (35‑40 hours/week) SNF Speech‑Language Pathologist Clinical Fellowship position in Daphne, Alabama.
Location:
Eastern Shore.
- Identify, assess, and provide treatment for individuals of all ages with communication or dysphagia disorders.
- Manage and supervise programs and services related to human communication and its disorders.
- Advise patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers regarding the disorder and its management.
- Provide treatment under the direction of the Clinical Director on written physician prescriptions.
- Perform duties such as screening, diagnosing, and rehabilitating speech, language, and oropharyngeal function disorders.
- Assist with record keeping, discharge planning, and staff and nursing in‑service programs.
Requires communication and hearing skills to evaluate and treat speech/language disorders.
Special Demands- Desire to work with people with temporary and/or chronic physical, mental and developmental handicaps.
- Knowledge of medical terminology to understand prescriptions and communicate with physicians and staff.
- Preferable experience in administering video fluoroscopic evaluations and therapy for dysphagia patients.
- Ability to work with patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics.
- Master’s or doctoral degree.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence of the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Alabama State License.
- Preferred completion of a clinical fellowship year or supervision by a speech pathologist with an ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence.
- COVID vaccination is preferred; exemptions will be considered.
Under the direction of the Clinical Director, the Speech Pathologist provides treatment only on a written prescription of a licensed physician.
Major Tasks, Duties, & Responsibilities- Screening, identifying, assessing, interpreting, diagnosing, and rehabilitating disorders of speech (articulation, fluency, voice) and language.
- Screening, identifying, assessing, interpreting, diagnosing, and rehabilitating disorders of oropharyngeal function (dysphagia) and related disorders.
- Screening, identifying, assessing, interpreting, diagnosing, and rehabilitating cognitive/communication disorders.
- Assessing, selecting, and developing augmentative and alternative communication systems and providing training in their use.
- Assisting in record keeping and charging system of the department.
- Discharge planning in treatment program.
- Documenting evaluation, treatment plan, goals, progress notes and discharge summary of patients treated.
- Performing staff and nursing in‑service programs as needed on areas of relevant interest and need.
