The Maintenance Staff will perform basic to complex maintenance duties to ensure the building equipment and property are in good operating condition. This includes conducting minor electrical and plumbing repairs, HVAC repairs, equipment repairs, painting, and may assist with general cleaning of the facility.

The General Maintenance worker will also assist the Directors in resolving any safety maintenance concerns and monitor daily operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA of South Alabama health and safety standards and policies. This individual may have responsibilities related to purchasing equipment, parts and supplies and will pick up supplies from local vendors as needed.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a High School diploma or equivalent, and minimum 5-7 years’ experience in building maintenance, grounds keeping and/or general repair experience. Additional training and/or certification in HVAC, plumbing or electrical is preferred, but not required.

Key responsibilities include:

• Performing maintenance duties to ensure the building equipment and property are in good operating condition
• Assisting the Directors in resolving any safety maintenance concerns
• Monitoring daily operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA of South Alabama health and safety standards and policies
• Purchasing equipment, parts and supplies as needed
• Providing excellent customer service to members, staff, peers, volunteers, guests, and leadership

Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in building maintenance, grounds keeping and/or general repair experience required
• Ability to think and respond quickly to issues or needs
• Ability to handle multiple tasks
• Highly motivated and detailed oriented
• Good interpersonal, organization and professional skills
