Play a vital role in supporting the Township-use your expertise to inspect, repair, and maintain public service equipment!
Upper Darby Township is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanic to join our team. Key responsibilities include inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical issues on Township-owned diesel trucks, loaders, and street sweeping equipment.
The mechanic will perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and replacing worn parts to ensure vehicles and equipment operate efficiently and safely according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards. The role requires the use of diagnostic tools to identify mechanical issues and communicate repair needs to relevant departments or the service manager.
Successful candidates will possess a strong understanding of diesel truck systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and electrical components. They will demonstrate the ability to accurately diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and interpret data effectively. Proficiency with hand and power tools is essential, along with the ability to read and understand technical manuals and manufacturer specifications. Candidates should have strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical issues.

Monday-Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM

Position Requirements
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a mechanic, with a strong understanding of diesel truck systems and related equipment.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and mechanical equipment to assess and repair vehicles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- PA State Safety Inspector Program certification.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE - Automotive Service Excellence) in engine repair, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
- Valid CDL license
