Integrated Practice Administrator (IPA) to ensure our doctors can focus on what they do best: providing exceptional care. IPAs have dental degrees from their home countries and may possess graduate-level degrees in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration and related fields. They are DANB Radiation Health and Safety as well as Infection Control certified. The IPA oversees administrative, clinical, and operational processes at each location, so doctors benefit from streamlined workflows, coordinated patient care, and reduced daily friction.
Columbia Dental trains them in all aspects of dental assisting and they are well acclimated with using digital X-rays, cone beam, scanners, etc. We are proud to have a team of professionals with diverse educational backgrounds.

28 team members have earned or are pursuing Bachelor's degrees; 15 have earned or are in the process of completing Graduate degrees; 22 have completed or are working toward Doctorate or Professional degrees. PositionGeneral Duties & Responsibilities are not limited to the following:
- Meet with patients and discuss their dental health habits, problems, and concerns
- Use professional tools and equipment to examine and treat patients' teeth, gums, and oral tissue
- Diagnose dental illnesses or infections
- Prescribe medications for dental problems (painkillers, antibiotics)
- Develop treatment plans to improve patients' oral health and habits
- Instruct patients on proper oral care
- Refer patients to specialists if needed
- Provide general dentistry services to children, adults, and elderly patients in locations assigned by Columbia Dental and in accordance with clinical standards and protocols and in compliance with Connecticut statutes and Federal regulations
- Review medical history at every visit; examine and assess patient; chart all pathologic conditions and report to the patient
- Hold informed consent discussions with patient, document in the record, and ensure appropriate forms are signed prior to initiating treatment
- Document all treatment in accordance with Columbia Dental policy and procedures
- Assist in monitoring and directing clinical performance of dental hygienists, department support staff, and students or residents
- Supervise taking of X‑rays and monitor quality/procedure for X‑ray and other equipment operation; recommend improvements when needed
