As a Senior Software Engineer with the Life Sciences Data and Analytics CoE, you will develop full stack software applications in a Life Sciences context, leveraging GenAI-supported insights, tools, or accelerators when relevant. You will deliver highly performant, tested, and scalable code, and participate in architecture decisions with the team. You will own product deployment and production performance, potentially using GenAI-based observability or anomaly detection tools.

You will mentor and coach junior team members through code reviews and pair programming, and encourage thoughtful use of GenAI tools in development. You will identify technical impediments and resolve them through architecture design, technology choices, or prioritization, considering GenAIs role in these pathways. You will collaborate with the Product Owner to align the roadmap with the existing architecture, including GenAI-enabled processes.

You will act as a thought partner to the Product Owner in story creation and acceptance criteria, clearly communicating tradeoffs in a GenAI-aware environment. You will help co-create engineering practices, coding style guidelines, and testing approaches, embedding GenAI considerations such as code suggestions, test automation, or documentation generation where appropriate.

McKinseys Life Sciences (LS) Practice serves clients across Commercial, R&D, and Operations. Within the LS Practice, youll be a member of the Data & Analytics CoE. The Data & Analytics CoE is a high-visibility, global group focused on improving client insights by designing data strategy and delivering analytics for the LS practice.

• Undergraduate or master's degree; or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of software development experience across the full application stack with knowledge of languages/frameworks such as JavaScript, Type Script, React, Angular, Vue, jQuery, Java, Spring, C#, .NET, Node.js, SQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Mongo

• Experience with big data, pharmaceutical/Med Tech data, or Healthcare space
• Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to thrive in a fast-changing environment
• Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and ability to work in cross-cultural environments
• Ability to manage multiple work streams in a dynamic setting and collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders on feasibility/complexity assessments and backlog prioritization
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices, Agile development, Dev Ops, Data Ops, MLOps, containerization, orchestration, and hands-on CI/CD and version control (Git Hub)
• Experience with cloud-native software solutions on AWS, Azure, and/or GCP; experience with cloud-native observability tooling and distributed systems
• Experience integrating GenAI resources, LLMs, or Agentic flows; familiarity with prompt engineering for software development and GenAI capabilities with cloud-native software (e.g., Lang Chain, Llama Index) is a plus
• Strong communication skills to align teams on complex technical decisions
