Due to continued growth, we are looking to add a
Low Voltage Fire Alarm/Security Technician
to our
Darien, CT
team. This role performs service, programming, commissioning, inspections, testing, and light installation work on commercial fire alarm and security systems. Success in this role requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, dependable customer service, effective communication, organization, and the ability to work safely both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and test fire alarm and fire suppression systems.
- Test batteries in fire alarm panels.
- Access different types of panels for testing and service.
- Troubleshoot panel issues to determine which part of the fire alarm system requires repair.
- Read and use a multimeter properly.
- Provide professional customer service and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Maintain all required licenses and industry‑related certifications.
- Cover on‑call hours for customer service needs, including rotating nights and weekends.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least three years of full‑time experience as a service technician or installer for commercial access control, camera, intercom, fire, and alarm systems.
- Experience with IP and cloud‑hosted systems.
- Connecticut low‑voltage license or willingness to enroll in an apprenticeship program to obtain a license.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
- Strong time‑management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Climb ladders comfortably and work at heights.
- Work in customer environments with noise levels ranging from quiet office settings to moderate business‑office settings.
- Travel to customer locations as required.
- Work rotating on‑call hours, including nights and weekends.
COMPENSATION
The salary for this role is$55,000 to $90,000 per year
, based on experience and qualifications.
