Position Title: Special Education Teacher with LBS 1 (Furqaan Academy for Exceptional Children)
Position Type: Full Time

Furqaan Academy is looking for highly energetic, enthusiastic candidates.
Duties:
The special education teacher will implement the IEPs for students in a self-contained classroom structured for students with autism. The teacher will be a member of a team, including a speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, social worker, and para educator. This is a private school position that contributes to 401K.
- Provide services to students in a Self-Contained and Resource Classroom setting
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning
- Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students as needed
- Implement reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in a fair and consistent manner
- Prepare for students assigned, provide adaptations as necessary, and show written evidence of preparation upon request
- Strive to implement instruction and action of Islamic and Quran philosophy, values, and education and instructional goals and objectives
- Assess the accomplishments of students regularly and provide necessary communication with parents on an as-needed basis.
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with other school personnel in the identification, diagnosis, and remediation of individual students with special needs
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation; assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence by attending conferences, workshops, and/or coursework
- Provide parents and external partners with up-to-date information when needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Evidence of planning, organization and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position
- Ability to collaborate with partners regarding student learning
- Understanding of student learning theory and differentiated instruction
- Experience with students with autism is required.
- Knowledge of communication, behavior and sensory interventions is highly preferred.
