Job Description Furqaan Academy for Exceptional Children is an Islamic private school based in Darien, Illinois, seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join their team effective August 10, 2026. This is a full-time position in a self-contained classroom environment dedicated to supporting students with autism spectrum disorder.
Role Overview : You will serve as the primary educator for students with autism in a nurturing, faith-integrated classroom. Working alongside an interdisciplinary team of speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and social workers, you will create an educational experience that supports both academic growth and spiritual development. A core responsibility is weaving Islamic and Quranic principles throughout daily instruction and classroom life.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs
* Create and maintain classroom environments that promote academic learning and student wellbeing
* Employ differentiated instructional strategies and educational technology appropriate to each learner's profile
* Maintain comprehensive and accurate student records
* Communicate regularly with families about student progress, goals, and achievements
* Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and interdisciplinary team members to address individual student support needs
* Integrate Islamic values and teachings into daily learning activities
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field
* Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with LBS 1 endorsement
* Documented experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent organizational abilities
* Solid understanding of differentiated instruction methods
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of communication interventions, behavior management strategies, and sensory supports tailored for autism spectrum learners.
