Job OverviewWe are seeking a Casual Linen Porter/Public Area Cleaner to help our full‑time team. An energetic, fit person is required to assist our hard‑working Housekeeping Room Attendants. Duties include stocking up their linen cupboard with linen and room amenities, helping them strip beds on busy days, clearing dirty linen from guest corridors to ensure the hotel always looks its best, and on non‑busy days ensuring all public areas are cleaned thoroughly.
Working hours are 9am – 3pm with a 30‑minute lunch break.
- Stocking linen cupboards in the guest corridors with sheets, pillowcases, duvets and towels.
- Stripping off beds ready for Housekeeping Room Attendants to remake with clean linen for arriving guests.
- Clearing dirty linen from the bedrooms and corridors.
- Sorting rejected linen from circulation.
- Assisting Housekeeping Room Attendants with vacuuming duties.
- Assisting Housekeeping Room Attendants with deep cleaning / spring cleaning of rooms by moving furniture / turning mattresses.
- Thoroughly cleaning lobbies, elevators, stairwells, public restrooms, and seating areas to a high standard.
- Dusting, polishing, vacuuming, and mopping floors; sanitizing high‑touch surfaces, fixtures, and restrooms.
- Emptying trash bins, removing litter, and ensuring proper waste disposal.
- Adhering to COSHH guidelines for cleaning chemicals and operating equipment (vacuum cleaners, buffers) safely.
- Promptly reporting any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or accidents to management.
- Providing a welcoming, professional atmosphere, responding to guest needs or spills immediately.
- Previous experience in a cleaning or housekeeping role, particularly in hospitality, is preferred.
- Physical stamina:
Ability to perform physical tasks, including walking, standing, bending, lifting, and pushing cleaning equipment. - Attention to detail:
High standard of cleanliness and pride in maintaining orderly spaces. - Flexibility:
Willingness to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings and weekends. - Communication:
Ability to follow instructions and communicate with staff and guests.
