Talent Manager, Employee Relations, HR Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION
Are you a collaborative, strategic HR leader who thrives on building strong partnerships and helping organizations bring out the best in their people? We're looking for an experienced HR Business Partner (HRBP) to join our team and support a dynamic, multi‑faceted business unit. In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor, coach, and champion for employees and leaders-shaping programs, influencing culture, and contributing to a world-class employee experience.
You'll play a key part in translating our business goals into practical, people-focused strategies that reflect our values and The Irving Way.
Strategic Partnership & Employee Support
- Build strong relationships with leaders and employees as a trusted advisor on a full range of HR and labour relations matters.
- Support employees through the full lifecycle - from recruitment and onboarding through development, performance, and offboarding.
- Act as the single point of contact for HR needs within your business unit.
Program Implementation & Operational Excellence
- Implement and operationalize HR programs, ensuring alignment across HR functions and business operations.
- Ensure new programs are fully adopted and integrated within the business through ongoing communication, coaching, and support.
- Collaborate with HR COEs and subject matter experts to deliver key people programs, including Talent Acquisition, Succession Planning, Workforce Planning, Compensation Reviews, and Training & Development.
Employee Engagement & Experience
- Partner with leaders to strengthen engagement and retention strategies.
- Prepare and deliver employee communications, presentations, and key updates.
- Coach and mentor leaders to support a positive, fair, and high‑performance environment.
Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Leverage HR systems and data to produce reports, analyze trends, and guide strategic decisions.
- Participate in policy and process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and the employee experience.
- Ensure adherence to organizational policies, labour legislation, and best practices.
Safe & Respectful Workplace
- Facilitate training and coaching related to respectful workplace practices.
- Lead or support workplace investigations, ensuring fair, equitable outcomes and meaningful prevention plans.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- CPRH designation (or the ability to obtain it) is considered an asset.
- 5-8 years of HR experience
, including at least 2 years advising senior leaders
. - Broad exposure to multiple HR functions. Experience leading several of the following areas is preferred:
- Employee engagement initiatives
- Talent management and succession planning
- Recruitment and selection
- Labour and employee relations
- Performance management
- Total rewards, including compensation strategy and recognition programs
- Strong relationship‑building skills, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate complex situations with professionalism and empathy.
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
