Position
HVAC Digital Services Technician (HVAC Automation/Controls) – Field‑based. Responsible for commissioning, programming, diagnosing, and maintaining HVAC controls of air conditioning and/or chiller systems in buildings.
Key Responsibilities- Commission, program, troubleshoot and maintain HVAC controls.
- Diagnose and repair customer systems using hand tools and interpret drawings, plans and specifications.
- Perform preventive maintenance, site reconnaissance, replacements and modifications.
- Review equipment layout before service and coordinate work.
- Act as primary customer contact, provide training and support.
- Generate sales leads for account managers.
- Identify parts to order and schedule purchases.
- Document all materials, parts, work, and costs; provide reports within deadlines.
- Maintain current knowledge of Trane products through ongoing training.
- Read and interpret specifications, drawings and building designs.
- Educate customers on system operation and digital features.
- Possibly supervise apprentice technicians.
- Travel to customer sites; may require overnight stays.
- Work overtime or weekend shifts as needed.
- Technical diploma in building mechanics, industrial automation, or equivalent; or minimum five years of HVAC experience.
- Strong communication, mathematical aptitude, reasoning ability.
- Valid driver’s license.
Must stand, walk, use hands, and lift up to 40lb routinely; occasionally lift over 40lb; work outdoors, in mechanical rooms and extreme temperatures. Reasonable accommodations provided.
Work EnvironmentExposure to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, elevated locations, wet conditions, airborne vapors, vibrations, and high‑voltage electrical shock. May encounter toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level typically high.
CompensationHourly base pay: $59,500–$. Compensation based on seniority, merit, location, education, experience, travel, and union designation. Benefits vary by region and role.
