Conservation Office Assistant
The Town of Dartmouth is seeking a full-time (35 hours) Conservation Office Assistant to provide administrative and clerical support for the daily operations of the Conservation Department. This position supports the Conservation Commission by preparing agendas, meeting materials, reports, public notices, and hearing schedules; ensuring meeting agenda postings comply with Massachusetts Open Meeting Law; attending evening Commission meetings; and preparing meeting minutes as needed.
The position also assists residents, consultants, contractors, Town departments, and the public with permitting procedures, deadlines, conservation-related inquiries, and general departmental services.
- Answering and directing phone calls and emails
- Scheduling appointments and meetings
- Maintaining department records and filing systems
- Monitoring online permitting
- Processing payments and invoices
- Drafting correspondence, notices, documents, and permits
- Assisting with data collection and reporting
- Supporting annual reports, budget preparation, strategic documents, and Conservation-related projects
- Handling confidential or sensitive information appropriately
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- An associate degree in business management or a related field is preferred.
- Three years of responsible experience in permitting and secretarial work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is preferred.
