Job Description
The MTSS Coordinator serves as both an intervention classroom teacher (80%) and the campus leader for Multi-Tiered System of Supports (20%). This role ensures strong Tier 1 instruction in the classroom while leading school wide systems that identify, monitor, and support students in need of academic and behavioral interventions.
Reporting to the principal or campus administrator, the MTSS Coordinator delivers high-quality, standards-aligned instruction while overseeing intervention systems, data analysis cycles, and compliance related to Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports. This individual plays a critical role in supporting teachers with intervention planning and ensuring students receive timely, effective support.
MTSS Coordinator works on a 10.5-month contract, which is two weeks more than teacher positions. The additional two work weeks are dedicated to beginning-of-year MTSS setup (rosters, data review, intervention schedules, compliance documentation, teacher training) and end-of-year including data analysis, reporting, and planning for the following school year.
This role requires a highly organized, data-driven educator who demonstrates strong instructional expertise, collaboration skills, and an unwavering commitment to student achievement.
Key Activities
Instruction - 80%
- Plan and deliver daily standards-aligned lessons
- Implement curriculum, assessments, and instructional frameworks with fidelity
- Use formative and summative assessments tomonitorstudent learning
- Provide targeted small-group and differentiated instruction
- Maintain a structured, safe, and engaging classroom culture
- Lead and manage the campus MTSS framework (Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier
3) - Facilitate MTSS/data meetings and problem-solving discussions
- Monitor intervention plans andmaintainaccurate
MTSS documentation and compliance records - Collaborate with ESE, 504, ESOL, and administrative teams
- Analyze school wide data trends toidentifyacademic and behavioral needs
- Establish and maintain consistent classroom routines
- Implement school wide behavior systems with fidelity
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
- Ensure appropriate intervention sand progress monitoring for at-risk students
- Support diverse learners including ESE, 504, ELL, and studentsrequiringtargeted interventions
- Partner with familiesregardingintervention plans and student progress
- Ensuretimelyreferrals and documentation for evaluation processes
- Attend and activelyparticipatein meetings, PD, coaching sessions, and MTSS trainings
- Submit lesson plans, data reports, and compliance documentation on time
- Uphold all school policies, procedures, and professional expectations
- Use beginning- and end-of-year extended weeks to strengthen MTSS systems
Ensure strong instruction while building and sustaining a high-functioning MTSS system that guarantees every student receives the academic and behavioral support needed to achieve mastery and long-term success.
Success in Year 1:
- 70%+ studentsdemonstrategrade-level mastery in core content
- 80%+ of Tier 2 students show measurable growth toward intervention goals
- 100% MTSS compliance documentationsubmittedaccurately and on time
- Effective facilitation of monthly MTSS meetings with clear action steps
