The Loader Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. The Loader Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by policies, procedures, and operator manuals.
Job Responsibilities- Operate front-end loader to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage areas, feed conveyors, hoppers and load trucks or railcars.
- Start engine, shift gears, press pedals, and steer loader.
- Lower and tilt bucket to scoop bulk materials.
- Raise and tilt bucket when filled, and drive to work site to dump material.
- Verify amount of aggregate in storage bins and fill hoppers to ensure adequate quantity and quality of raw materials.
- Perform routine maintenance on loaders such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
- Participate in ensuring raw materials meet established quality and quantity standards.
- Meet established performance indicators.
- Work toward improvement of the assigned plant and surrounding area.
- Follow established procedures to ensure plant compliance with state, federal, and local regulations and requirements.
- Participate in ongoing minor maintenance and visual evaluations of plant and equipment.
- Consult with plant superintendent, batch person, and other personnel to resolve problems, provide immediate feedback, and recommend solutions to improve performance.
- Haul cement and/or additives from storage area in bulk or bags when necessary.
- Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.
- Meet or exceed company safety standards.
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Bilingual is a plus.
- Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors.
- Must wear protective equipment while at the location.
- Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.
- Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
- Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time.
- Must regularly talk and hear to communicate with employees/visitors and function safely around heavy rolling equipment.
- Must be able to perform all job functions, which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls.
