Job Description

  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders to advance professional development.
  • Serve as a resource for clinical inquiry, guiding the identification of potential projects and providing subject matter expertise.
  • Champion a spirit of inquiry by supporting research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives using preferred methodologies (e.g., PDSA).
  • Drive collaborative problem-solving and support the implementation of meaningful change.
  • Foster a supportive environment for nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
  • Disseminate evidence-based findings through education programs, courses, and other developmental activities.
  • Model professional standards to inspire alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Advance competency management through innovative, evidence-based programs that promote clinical excellence and growth.
  • Develop and evaluate educational initiatives that address learning needs and close practice gaps, including continuing education, in-service, continued competence training, and new information based on unit/department needs, organization initiatives/goals and policy revisions. Collaborates with content experts and stakeholders to support interprofessional care across the continuum. Assists with learners to identify their needs and develops activities to grow skills.
  • Assist others in professional role development, practice transitions, and succession planning. Supports the preceptor program and promotes certification and advanced formal education.
  • Promote a collaborative environment with academic partners for student placement and positive student experience. Communicates with stakeholders about professional development activities.
  • Serve as a resource for clinical inquiry and quality improvement, demonstrating a spirit of inquiry and disseminating findings through educational activities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective professional communicator with strong interpersonal skills. [Required]
  • Knowledge of the American Nurses Association (ANA)/Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) scope and standards for Nursing Professional Development. [Required]
  • Working knowledge of word processing, data management, email, and presentation applications. [Preferred]
  • Self-directed, creative, and demonstrates initiative to support the seven roles of the NPD practitioner: learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for inquiry, advocate for the NPD specialty, and partner for practice transitions. [Preferred]
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards (e.g., CMS, OSHA) for professional specialty served. [Preferred]
