SMB Accountant (On‑Site | 32 hrs/week | Contract‑to‑Hire)

We're partnering with a long‑standing, locally built software company that creates ERP and business management tools used by small and midsized organizations across multiple industries. We are recommending an experienced SMB Accountant who can confidently own day‑to‑day accounting while also helping modernize and strengthen processes.

This is a great role for someone who has "been around the block"-someone who's touched a wide range of accounting activities, understands how everything fits together, and likes being the go‑to accounting person in a business where your work is visible, valued, and impactful.

What You'll Do

You'll handle the core day‑to‑day accounting that keeps the business running smoothly:

+ Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable

+ Customer billing and invoice creation

+ Bank deposits, wire transfers, and account reconciliations

+ Payroll administration

+ Sales tax reporting and filing

+ Month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close support

+ Assist with audits and financial reporting

+ Enter customer and purchase orders into the internal ERP

+ Identify smarter, simpler, or more accurate ways to do things-then help implement them

Requirements

What Makes You a Strong Match

Must‑Haves

+ Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting

+ 3+ years of hands‑on accounting or bookkeeping experience

+ Ideally with exposure across AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, and general ledger

+ Solid understanding of GAAP and small‑business accounting practices

+ Experience working in an accounting or ERP system (Quick Books, Net Suite, Dynamics, Sage, SAP, etc.)

+ Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills

+ Comfortable working independently, using good judgment, and making informed decisions

+ A mindset that asks, "Is there a better way to do this?"

Nice‑to‑Haves

+ Experience supporting a small to midsized business

+ Exposure to service‑based or recurring‑revenue environments

+ Experience working in or around a technology/software company

+ Background in customer support or internal help desk is a plus, not required
