Position: Home School Assistance Program Supervising Teacher PRN

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Facilitate and Support Home School Assistance Program (HSAP):
  • Serve as a point of contact for parents/guardians in the Home School Assistance Program.
  • Guide parents/guardians in determining and implementing curriculum and instructional materials for students K-12.
  • Provide advice and resources to help parents/guardians manage their children's learning schedules, educational activities, and academic goals.
  • Help parents/guardians set realistic and effective goals for student progress, providing strategies for monitoring and supporting learning.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians to discuss student progress, challenges, resources, and goals.
  • Collaborate with parents/guardians to create individualized learning plans that meet the unique needs of each student and align with their academic goals.
  • Provide ongoing support and check-ins to ensure that learning plans are being followed and are successful.
  • Advise on any necessary adjustments to ensure students are staying on track.
  • Help parents/guardians understand how to use educational tools and technology, and stay informed on educational trends and research that may benefit their children.
  • Provide resources and guidance on how to address challenges that may arise in the homeschooling process, including behavioral issues, motivation, and academic struggles.
  • Provide guidance to parents on making adjustments to teaching methods or content based on assessment results to improve learning outcomes.
  • Ensure that homeschooling families meet district and state compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with HSAP Lead Teacher to ensure that families have access to additional services (special education, counseling, etc.).
  • Participate in regular team meetings to share feedback, ideas, and strategies for improving the HSAP.
  • Organize events or meetups to build a sense of community among families in the Home School Assistance Program.
  • Maintain a positive, supportive, and approachable relationship with all parents/guardians to foster a collaborative, respectful atmosphere.
  • Valid Teaching License Required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to -

  • Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
  • Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.
  • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
  • Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.
Work Environment
  • Noise level is quiet to loud.
  • Work may be indoors and/or outdoors.
  • Work may be in non-air-conditioned rooms.
  • Substance-free environment.
  • Fast-paced atmosphere with constant contact with students, staff, or the public.
  • Direct responsibility for the safety, well-being, and work output of student.
Special Qualification Desired
  • Successful Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in guiding and supporting parents.
  • Ability to provide personalized educational support and problem-solving strategies to parents.
  • Comfortable with the usage of a computer, educational technology and online learning platforms.
  • Patience, adaptability, and empathy when working with diverse learners and families.
  • Independent and collaborative work ethic:
    While this role is independent in nature, the candidate will collaborate with a variety of educational stakeholders, including parents and other educators to ensure the success of the program.
