Job Description

The Vice Chancellor for Student Services serves as the District's chief student affairs officer and provides executive leadership for all student services functions across Eastern Iowa Community Colleges. Reporting directly to the Chancellor and serving as a member of the Chancellor's Cabinet, the Vice Chancellor sets the strategic direction for student services from recruitment through graduation, ensuring a student-centered, equitable, and high-quality experience that supports student success and completion.

The Vice Chancellor leads the development, integration, assessment, and continuous improvement of student services programs and ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This position works collaboratively with college presidents, other vice chancellors, district leaders, faculty, and community partners to advance institutional priorities and deliver accessible, effective services to students across all campuses, off-campus locations, and virtual environments.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible senior-level administrative experience in student services; community college experience strongly preferred, experience working in a community college district preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student services operations, enrollment management, compliance, budgeting, and policy development.
  • Experience conducting Title IX investigations.
  • Experience with Clery Act reporting.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with relevant federal and state higher ed laws and regulations.
  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret data to make data-informed decisions.
  • Proven ability to lead large, diverse teams and manage complex, multi-campus operations.
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student-centered practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across organizational boundaries and manage competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to travel within the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges district and occasionally statewide or nationally to attend meetings, trainings, conferences, and support multi-campus operations;

travel may include same-day trips and occasional overnight stays.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities Leadership and Strategy
  • Advise the Chancellor on matters related to student services, enrollment management, financial aid, student success, and student well-being.
  • Provide district-wide leadership and strategic direction for student services aligned with the EICC mission, strategic plan, and Board priorities.
  • Develop multi-year strategic goals and annual operational plans for Student Services.
  • Foster a culture of student success, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Student Services Oversight
  • Oversee all areas of Student Services, including but not limited to: recruitment and enrollment management, admissions, placement and testing, orientation, registration and records, financial aid, advising, retention, counseling, student conduct, student activities and organizations, career development, disability services, veterans' services, Title IX, due process, housing (as applicable), and select grant-funded programs.
  • Ensure student services are accessible and responsive for students at all campuses, off-campus locations, and virtual learning environments.
  • Provide leadership for student services at off-campus learning centers and online programs.
