Position: DESIGNATED eSPORTS COORDINATOR - .50 FTE

Job Title

The Davenport Community School District is an EEO/AA employer. Duties and responsibilities include teaching and coaching young people in the fundamentals and techniques, demonstrating competitive drive to develop and maintain a strong program, and constantly improving the program and overall sports program at West High School. The position also requires motivating student-athletes to excel both on the court and in the classroom, and communicating with all stakeholders including administration, staff, students, and the booster club.

Support the strength and conditioning coordinator to ensure proper conditioning and weight training for student athletes. Provide adequate supervision before, during, and after practices and games. Lead by example demonstrating high character and solid moral background, promoting other programs at West High School, and encouraging participation in other activities. Work with Athletic Boosters in working concession stands throughout the year and attend one meeting per academic year.

Support and implement Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics. Maintain good attendance and punctuality. Possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential. Perform any duties as assigned by head coach and administration.

Physical requirements include sitting, standing, speaking, hearing, seeing, and walking to carry out routine duties. Occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture. Supervise students in all types of weather. Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff. Implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.

Work environment is quiet to loud, indoors and/or outdoors, and may be in non-air-conditioned rooms. Substance-free environment with a fast-paced atmosphere and constant contact with students, staff, or the public. Direct responsibility for the safety, well-being, and work output of students.

Special qualifications desired include previous experience, successful coaching experience, and experience with competition/success at the state level.
