Special Education Teacher
The Davenport Community School District is an EEO/AA employer. Duties include attending all required trainings, implementing feedback to improve instruction, providing instruction based on the Iowa Core Standards, using data to drive instruction, completing paperwork appropriately, collaborating with general education teachers, implementing services outlined in each individual's IEP, establishing clear objectives for lessons, identifying students' needs, communicating with parents, planning and conducting activities for a balanced program of instruction, preparing for assigned classes, developing individualized educational plans, fostering cooperative social behavior, utilizing technology in the delivery of instruction, evaluating students' academic and social growth, establishing rules and procedures for appropriate classroom behavior, implementing behavior management strategies, attending professional in-service activities, communicating with parents, colleagues, supervisors, and students, supervising students in out of classroom activities, possessing strong interpersonal skills, and supporting and implementing Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports.
Physical requirements include sitting, standing, speaking, hearing, seeing, walking, lifting, moving, or pushing items of 50 lbs., supervising students in all types of weather, meeting multiple demands, interacting with the public and other staff, implementing Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, working in a fast-paced atmosphere, and direct responsibility for the safety, well-being, and work output of students. Work environment includes noise level from quiet to loud, work may be indoors and/or outdoors, work may be in non-air-conditioned rooms, substance-free environment.
