Davenport Community School District Temporary Contract Position
This position is a temporary contract for the 2026-27 school year; without renewal. Includes 20% supplemental which includes additional responsibilities, extended hours, and evening work. Hours are generally during school hours. There will be outside of school day hours such as supervision of evening activities, conferences, open house, etc.
Major Functions and ResponsibilitiesMajor Function #1 - Student Supports:
- Enforce the policies and procedures of the Board of Education, District, Building, and Principal directly through the application of PBIS and equitable discipline practices such as mediation, restorative circles, mentorship, behavior plans, safety plans, etc.
- Lead alongside administrators and staff to ensure student success in all areas.
- Provide collaborative leadership for student attendance, academics, and behavior through MTSS process.
- Provide crisis intervention including deescalation when needed.
- Perform hallway, building, grounds, and cafeteria supervision duties as appropriate.
Major Function #2 - Staff Supports:
- Assist the principal and other members of the administrative team in establishing and maintaining professional development for all staff regarding behavior and attendance systems.
- Provide support to all of the operations of the attendance office, alternative education settings, and any other building/classroom behavior systems.
- Be an engaged participant in building and district initiatives surrounding social, emotional, and behavioral health.
Major Function #3 - Data Driven Decision Making:
- Generate, maintain, and analyze student data with the goal of reducing factors placing students at risk including attendance, behavior, and academic data.
- Promote the positive image of the school and celebrate achievements of students and staff.
Iowa Administrative license preferred. Evaluator License for Iowa preferred. Leadership experience preferred. Iowa Teaching License required. Behavior systems experience. Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students and their families to ensure that each child reaches his/her full potential. Good attendance and punctuality are necessary to ensure that all duties and responsibilities are successfully completed.
Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing with students, staff, and families in a timely and professional manner. Must be willing to support and implement Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics. CPI certified or willingness to be trained and serve as a member of the Crisis Response Violence Prevention (CRVP) team. Must be willing to be trained in other district designated priority areas.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to - sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties. Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture. Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather. Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.
Noise level is quiet to loud. Work may be indoors and/or outdoors. Work may be in non-air-conditioned rooms. Substance-free environment. Fast-paced atmosphere with constant contact with students, staff, or the public. Direct responsibility for the safety, well-being, and work output of student.
Special Qualification DesiredWillingness to accept supervisory duties that are conducive to a positive building environment. Understanding of the need for confidentiality with respect to student and parental rights and for conversations and hard copy information. Experience with Project Lead the Way (PLTW) or willingness to be trained. Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
