Overview

As our next Construction Technician Supervisor, you’ll bring a leadership mindset that elevates your team and every project you touch. You will assist the Resident Construction Engineer in the oversight, supervision, and administration of projects and staff assigned to the Davenport RCE Office.

Location and Schedule

Location: Davenport RCE Office

Shift: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, Monday–Friday;
Hours may vary with construction activity; may receive after-hours calls and occasional overnight travel.

Responsibilities

As a Construction Technician Supervisor
, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and Support the Construction Team: Supervise, coach, and develop construction inspection and survey team, ensuring skill alignment, proper training, and overall team support.
  • Ensure Quality and Compliance in Field Inspections: Review project sites daily to confirm work meets specifications, traffic control is properly implemented, and safety regulations are followed.
  • Solve On-Site Technical and Constructability Issues: Address challenges such as utility conflicts, plan gaps, survey discrepancies, and site-specific conditions using sound engineering judgment.
  • Manage Project Changes and Contract Actions: Implement and negotiate plan revisions, approve extra work and item overruns within established limits, and assess value-engineering proposals.
  • Represent the Department with External and Internal Stakeholders: Communicate with contractors, property owners, utilities, railroads, media, and the public to resolve issues, coordinate schedules, and provide project updates.
  • Advance Technology, Testing, and Quality Assurance Practices: Apply evolving technologies and quality programs related to surveying, testing, QC/QA, and material evaluation to improve documentation and project outcomes.
Special Requirements
  • Possess and maintain a minimum of a Class C non-commercial driver’s license.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s degree in civil engineering or a related field, and experience equal to five years of full-time work in engineering survey, construction inspection, materials inspection, or materials.
  • All of the following (a and b):
  • Three years of full-time work experience in engineering survey, construction inspection, materials inspection, or materials testing; and
  • A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in…
