Join our Engineering team as Supervisor of Projects, where you'll help deliver track infrastructure projects that keep our Class I railroad network safe, reliable, and efficient. In this role, you'll support Field Engineering Managers by planning, estimating, coordinating, and overseeing capital and maintenance projects from concept through completion. You'll ensure work meets Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations and internal engineering standards while contributing to improvements in safety, reliability, and operational performance.
This position may be based in Davenport, Mason City, Marquette, Ottumwa, or Savanna, IL
ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Manage capital field projects, including switch and crossing installations, hot box detector installations, and rail de-stressing work
- Perform office-related project support, including ordering materials, coordinating contractors and CPKC crews, validating invoices, and processing payments
- Collaborate with engineering managers to scope, estimate, and schedule track construction and maintenance projects
- Coordinate SAP project networks and procurement processes for materials and contractor services
- Review and process contractor invoices in alignment with project scope and contract terms
- Prepare monthly financial reports including budget forecasts and accruals
- Lead track infrastructure projects up to $5M in size
- Conduct monthly capital budget reviews and support annual planning for future work
- High school diploma or general equivalency
- Valid driver's license
- High school diploma or general equivalency; bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is an asset
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in railroad engineering, track construction, or infrastructure project management
- Strong analytical skills with expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Excel Word and SAP or similar project management systems
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating the ability to clearly and professionally relay information to various audiences
