Position Title: Pulmonary Function Technician
Department: Pulmonary Services
ResponsibilitiesAs a Pulmonary Function Technician at Mercy One, you will perform pulmonary-function, lung-capacity, and blood-and-oxygen tests to gather data for use by physicians in diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary disorders. Confers with patient in the treatment room to explain test procedures. Explains specified methods of breathing to patient and conducts pulmonary-function tests. Observes and records readings on metering devices of analysis equipment, and conveys findings of tests and analyses of physicians for interpretation.
May also perform blood analysis tests to measure factors such as oxygen and carbon dioxide tensions, hemoglobin saturation and levels, and pH of blood, using a blood gas analyzer.

: PRN, minimum requirement of 24 hours per month
- Education
:
Respiratory Care, 2-year college program or equivalent experience - Certification
:
Certified pulmonary function testing - Licensure/Registration
: CRT or RRT State of Iowa - Additional
: ACLS within 6 months of hire;
Successful completion of basic EKG Interpretation course; and Basic Life Support
- Less than 1 year experience required.
