Position: Clinical Assistant (O&P Career Pathway)

Comprehensive Prosthetics & Orthotics (CPO) is seeking a motivated Clinical Assistant to begin a structured career pathway in orthotics, prosthetics, and pedorthics. This hands-on healthcare role supports certified clinicians in orthotic fitting, therapeutic footwear, medical device preparation, and direct patient care within an outpatient clinical setting. Ideal for individuals with backgrounds in CNA, Medical Assistant, Physical Therapy Aide, Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or other allied health fields, this position provides real-world clinical experience while building toward professional certification in O&P.

This role is designed as a structured entry point into a long-term healthcare career within orthotics, prosthetics, and pedorthics. As a Clinical Assistant at CPO, you will receive direct mentorship from certified clinicians, accrue supervised clinical hours required for certification, and have access to financial support for approved coursework and certification exams. With demonstrated performance and commitment, this position provides a defined pathway toward advancement into roles such as ABC Certified Orthotic Fitter (CFo), Certified Pedorthist (CPed), Certified Prosthetic-Orthotic Assistant (CPOA), and ultimately Prosthetist/Orthotist (CPO) through residency and credentialing.

This opportunity offers more than entry-level employment—it offers a clear and supported clinical career trajectory.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant clinical environment in accordance with HIPAA, Medicare, OSHA, and infection control standards.
  • Demonstrate professional accountability and an eagerness to learn and grow through mentorship and feedback.
  • All clinical activities are performed under the direction and supervision of a credentialed clinician in accordance with applicable state regulations and certification standards.
Required Qualifications

  • Basic computer and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-through.

  • Experience in hospital, rehabilitation, outpatient clinic, or medical office settings.
  • Familiarity with orthotics, prosthetics, therapeutic footwear, or durable medical equipment (DME).
  • Experience with medical documentation or electronic health records.
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing certification in orthotics, prosthetics, or pedorthics.
  • Hourly Pay: $18.00 – $19.00 per hour , based on experience.
