Shift: Varies (Monday through Friday 2pm–6pm, Every 4th Saturday 2pm–7pm)

Responsible for the delivery of laboratory specimens, mail and supplies between affiliated Mercy One facilities and laboratory customers.

• Transport laboratory specimens, mail and other materials and/or supplies utilizing excellent customer service skills.
• Follow established procedures and policies, including infection control and blood borne pathogens.
• Handle chemicals according to established safety protocols.
• Meet defined workload productivity standards and support LEAN principles.
• Utilize courier logistical software and devices to track packages and document route.
• Ensure temperature‑dependent materials are transported at their required storage temperature.
• Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and courier bags.
• Attend and participate in department huddles.
• Follow established policies and procedures to accurately track packages and obtain optimal transport time.
• Participate in teaching peers.

• High school degree or GED, required.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Two years’ experience as a courier, preferred.
• Working knowledge of materials management, preferred.
• Valid Driver’s/Chauffeur’s License and meet Mercy One’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire.
