SummaryThe Athletic Facilities Operations Staff position is part of a team that maintains the athletic facilities and provides support for athletic and other school related events. This position is primarily responsible for outdoor/indoor facility preparation and upkeep but will cross-train to inventory management assistance and custodial cleaning and preventive maintenance.
This position typically works Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with 3-4 Saturdays during each athletic season covering the issue room and other daily duties. A flex schedule may be utilized for special event weeks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Assistant Athletic Facilities Operations Supervisor in the maintenance of athletic fields which includes layout, lining, and other associated maintenance of athletic fields.
- General maintenance and daily cleaning of the Smoyer Tennis court complex and Frantz Pavilion during tennis seasons.
- Ability to operate landscaping equipment.
- Clean and maintain the wrestling center, Davenport Squash Center, and Plantz Courts.
- Daily cleaning during the winter season for the wrestling center, squash courts and basketball courts.
- In the non-traditional season, weekly cleaning for all three spaces.
- Assist with seasonal facility preparation. Also assist with contest day items such as placement and retrieval of field markers, scoreboards, sound systems, tents, chairs, tables, and any other needs.
- Set up and breakdown all indoor athletic events during the winter term. Assist with other school-related event set ups and tear downs.
- Check and remove all trash and recyclables from athletic venues.
- Assist in the inspection and repair of equipment at athletic venues.
- Assist in the maintenance of related equipment as assigned, and perform minor repairs, as needed and as applicable.
- Position is classified as “essential personnel” during inclement weather for snow removal and other emergencies that may arise on campus.
- Other duties, as needed and as assigned, to assist in the operations of the athletic department and the athletic facilities.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, or lift up to 70 lbs.; traverse multiple steps, climb ladders of various sizes, move equipment and related items as needed.
- Working knowledge or the ability to learn how to operate the equipment utilized in maintenance of the athletic facilities, including, but not limited to floor buffers, floor scrubbers, and field lining equipment, lawn mowers, snowblowers, and utility vehicles.
- Ability to use all cleaning devices utilized in the maintenance of the athletic facilities, including, but not limited to vacuums, wet and dry mops, shovels, hand tools, and brooms.
- Good communication skills with students, coaches and faculty.
- Must be able to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Computer skills proficiency including typing, data entry into a database system, utilizing an email system, and applying online resources.
- One to three years of maintenance or related experience in an athletic facility or other facility
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education approved by Human Resources
