Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Ammonia Technician to oversee all activities related to the maintenance and operation of our ammonia refrigeration system. This role also encompasses responsibilities for HVAC, boiler systems, hot water generators, compressed air systems, building sprinkler systems, and other supporting equipment.
Responsibilities- Maintain and operate the ammonia refrigeration system, along with building heating and air conditioning equipment, boiler systems, hot water generators, compressed air systems, and building sprinkler systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, vessels, valves, and other machinery included in the ammonia refrigeration equipment.
- Collaborate with refrigeration contractors, electricians, and pipe fitters to ensure adherence to company safety policies and work standards.
- Coordinate operations and maintenance of facility utility systems to support production schedules and facility conditions.
- Assist with recordkeeping and training for Process Safety Management/Risk Management Plans to comply with state and federal guidelines.
- Provide technical analysis and real-time data on refrigeration and operational equipment.
- Ensure ammonia compressors operate safely and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing issues.
- Utilize drawings, technical records, and vendor diagrams for Preventative Maintenance documents related to machine overhauls and repairs.
- Handle maintenance emergencies as required.
- Complete duties in accordance with quality assurance, Good Manufacturing Practices, safety protocols, and government regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Direct daily work of refrigeration technicians, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Train team members on safe equipment operation, GMPs, and company procedures.
- Proficiency in ammonia refrigeration and troubleshooting.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical/refrigeration/utilities field, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- 3 years of experience working with ammonia refrigeration.
- Working knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Knowledge of equipment set-up, functions, operating procedures, and preventative maintenance techniques.
Skills & Qualifications
- GCAP Ammonia Technician Certification preferred.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- PSM training preferred.
- Experience in a maintenance department, preferably in an automated food processing plant.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CMMS, and L2L.
- Ability to quickly adjust to changing demands.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Must be able to cover other days and weekends as needed.
- Must be able to read and interpret P&.
This position operates on the 1st shift, from 7am to 3:30pm. Overtime is expected, and flexibility is preferred.
Job Type & LocationPermanent position based out of Davenport, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $66,560.00 - $72,800.00/yr. See Barry for Benefits Guide.
