Job SummaryAs a Registered Nurse at Mercy One, you will provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. Through evidence‑based practice and critical thinking, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome‑based care. The Acute Care RN manages a diverse patient population, including post‑operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients, and supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members.
EssentialFunctions
- Conduct assessments and identify patient problems.
- Develop and implement goal‑based plans of care.
- Evaluate patient progress and revise plans as needed.
- Communicate relevant clinical information to the team to optimize outcomes.
- Demonstrate clinical competence and manage telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable.
- Provide care appropriate to the age‑related needs of patients on the unit.
- Adhere to all safety, infection control, and colleague health policies and procedures.
- Maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and other institutional policies to ensure adherence in a professional manner.
- Associate degree in nursing required;
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. - Current compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by Iowa or Illinois (IL RN license within one year).
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three months of hire.
- High language, intermediate‑to‑high math, and high critical thinking ability. Basic computer skills required.
