WAGES: $17.69/hr.
Hours:
Afternoon (7:45AM to 12:15PM)
- Assist students with personal hygiene, nutrition, comfort, and safety issues.
- Provide general/emergent care to students as director or delegated by the Registered Nurse and building administration.
- Prepare and administer medication as directed by the student's physician.
- Monitor students for allergic reactions and follow individual health care plans or district procedures.
- Respond to health‑related phone calls and parent questions.
- Monitor and check for head lice when required.
- Prepare and monitor health records.
- Maintain daily Med Administration and daily nursing office visits in Infinite Campus.
- Correspond with parents when appropriate.
- Complete staff/student injury forms as needed.
- Perform other service or clerical duties as assigned by the Registered Nurse or school administrator(s).
- Must be willing to attend trainings and complete trainings to assume the duties and responsibilities of the position yearly.
- Additional duties and responsibilities may include catheterization, tube feeding, use of electronic blood pressure equipment, use of a pulse oximeter, use of a peak flow meter and provide care to students needing medication such as diastatic, intranasal versed, glucagon, insulin, and epi‑pen.
- Must hold the Infant/Child/Adult CPR certificate prior to start date and remain current.
- Must hold a Mandatory Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Reporter Certificate prior to start date and remain current.
- Per DHS Guidelines this Children’s Village position requires a background check every two (2) years, FBI fingerprinting check every four (4) years, and completed Physical every three (3) years.
- Must complete Universal Precaution and Exposure Training prior to start date and remain current.
- Must be willing to complete the training and obtain the Medication Administration Certificate and remain current.
- Must be willing to work with a diverse population and treat all with dignity and respect.
- Recognition of the need for confidentiality with respect to children’s and parents’ right to privacy.
- Successful candidate must possess strong inter‑personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
- Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
- Ability to routinely lift/carry office supplies and printed materials weighing up to 25 lbs, occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels in person and/or on the telephone.
- Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation in person and/or on the telephone.
- Ability to operate a computer, calculator, copy machine, telephone, and other office equipment with dexterity and in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ability to withstand weather for outside activities.
