Mercy One Genesis Davenport Surgical Care focuses on board‑certified surgeons who specialize in general surgery, including gastrointestinal, endocrine, skin and soft tissues, hernias, breast disease, trauma surgery, and other common conditions.
Registered Nurse – Outpatient Surgical CareAs a Registered Nurse at Mercy One, you will provide patient care in outpatient settings, delivering safe, effective, and evidence‑based patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will coordinate care provided by other clinical staff, support patient and family education, and ensure communication across healthcare teams. You are accountable for clinical standards and may operate with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive patient assessments – physical, psychosocial, nutritional, functional, safety, spiritual, cultural, and educational.
- Administer medications and treatments safely via multiple routes (oral, IM, SC, , IV, inhalation, topical, ocular, sublingual, nasal) and document accordingly.
- Perform nursing care, laboratory and diagnostic tests, specimen collection, phlebotomy, and limited radiology procedures following policies and universal precautions.
- Assist providers with patient care, phone/mail/fax communications, scheduling, consents, admissions, referrals, and outpatient procedures.
- Communicate and collaborate with physicians, staff, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding care plans and patient needs.
- Educate patients, families, and clinical staff on treatments, medications, test preparation, discharge, and health maintenance; document education and evaluate understanding.
- Participate in staff meetings, committees, quality improvement, risk management, and performance improvement projects.
- Maintain documentation accuracy and completeness in EMR.
- Maintain and monitor supplies, equipment, medication stock, and office machines; report malfunctions.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergency patient needs and initiate emergency procedures.
- Perform other duties as needed and assigned by the manager.
- Full time – 32 hours a week
- Monday–Thursday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- Friday 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
- No weekend or holiday work.

- Administers medications safely and documents accurately.
- Performs nursing care, lab and diagnostic tests, specimen collection, phlebotomy, and limited radiology procedures.
- Assists providers with patient care and administrative tasks.
- Communicates and collaborates with physicians, staff, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Educates patients and staff; documents education.
- Participates in quality improvement and risk management activities.
- Maintains accurate EMR documentation.
- Maintains and monitors supplies, equipment, medication stock, and office machines.
- Recognizes and responds to urgent/emergency patient needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Maintains knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and Trinity Health policies.
- Active RN License in the state of Iowa; licensure from other states may be required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.
- Proficient in basic computer skills (Windows, web navigation, email, MS Office).
