- Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, learning their names and addressing them by name whenever possible.
- Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading or unloading heavy items, noting and passing along suggestions or requests, and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience.
- Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to calling customers.
- Stock received product and supplies and mark stickers accordingly.
- Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Review prescriptions that are not picked up as requested by department manager.
- Order product and supplies at the department manager’s request.
- Review invoices on product received.
- Coordinate nursing home medicines as necessary.
- Log invoices as necessary.
- Prepare paperwork and compile medicine for delivery orders and mail outs at the request of the department manager.
- Cleans, empties garbage, etc. to maintain a clean and inviting pharmacy appearance.
- Takes orders for refills from customers.
- Removes trash in a timely manner.
- Maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
- Gather patient information required to prepare prescriptions.
- Keep pharmacy supplies well stocked.
- Perform cash transactions.
- Adhere to company policies and individual store guidelines.
- Report to work when scheduled and on time.
- Administer vaccines as allowed by law.
- Complete the sale.
- Assist in other areas of store as needed.
- Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
- Follow written, verbal or diagrammatic instructions.
- Perform basic arithmetic.
- File, post and mail materials; copy data from one record to another.
- Interview to obtain basic information and guide people.
High school or equivalent experience. Over six months up to one year of similar or related experience.
Vaccination certification as required by law, if applicable.
Physical RequirementsMust be physically able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally; exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently; and exert a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Must be able to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Vision requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
Working ConditionsThis position is exposed to noise on a daily basis. It is a fast‑paced work environment with significant pressure. There is occasional exposure to dangerous chemicals/solvents while compounding products and chemotherapy drugs.
Equipment Used to Perform JobPC with pharmacy software and printer, cash register, pharmacy balance, scanner, calculator, telephone, fax, and copier.
ConfidentialityMaintains confidentiality of the customer’s private medical information.
ContactsDeals with the general public on a daily basis; works with suppliers/vendors monthly. May handle hazardous drugs (USP
800); acknowledges risk of exposure.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen.
