Under the direction of the Senior Aquatics Manager, assists with the general safety and security of patrons, staff and property at the City’s Aquatic Centers.
Starting pay: $16.00 per hour for the first year. Returning employees receive a $0.25 per hour increase each consecutive year until reaching the maximum rate of $17.00 per hour.

Responsibilities- Monitor the pool area to ensure safety and compliance with rules and regulations.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with patrons and staff to help ensure a safe pool environment.
- Identify potential conflicts and work with patrons to verbally de-escalate.
- Assist with the resolution of patron grievances.
- Call 9-1-1 if verbal de-escalation is unsuccessful or when emergencies occur; do not engage in physical contact.
- Secure the premises, patrons and staff by patrolling property, including arrival and departure of staff as needed; regularly check fence lines and parking lots; routinely check facility, equipment and access points.
- Communicate with management on identified security issues; submit daily written reports on pool incidents, patrons’ behavior concerns/matters and any other observed safety/security issues; complete reports by recording observations with detail, including witness interviews as necessary.
- Help communicate policy, procedures and expectations to patrons.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Participate in various in-service training programs, including facility emergency procedures, water rescues, first aid and CPR skills.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent; experience working with youth preferred.
- Training in verbal de-escalation techniques.
- Training in security processes and procedures preferred.
- Must possess a valid Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certificate upon hire or earn within one month of hire.
- Must be 18 years old by the time of hire to apply.
- Must pass a background check as prescribed by the City of Davenport.
