Aquatics Facility Safety Liaison

Under the direction of the Senior Aquatics Manager, assists with the general safety and security of patrons, staff and property at the City’s Aquatic Centers.

Starting pay: $16.00 per hour for the first year. Returning employees receive a $0.25 per hour increase each consecutive year until reaching the maximum rate of $17.00 per hour.

• Monitor the pool area to ensure safety and compliance with rules and regulations.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with patrons and staff to help ensure a safe pool environment.
• Identify potential conflicts and work with patrons to verbally de-escalate.
• Assist with the resolution of patron grievances.
• Call 9-1-1 if verbal de-escalation is unsuccessful or when emergencies occur; do not engage in physical contact.
• Secure the premises, patrons and staff by patrolling property, including arrival and departure of staff as needed; regularly check fence lines and parking lots; routinely check facility, equipment and access points.
• Communicate with management on identified security issues; submit daily written reports on pool incidents, patrons’ behavior concerns/matters and any other observed safety/security issues; complete reports by recording observations with detail, including witness interviews as necessary.
• Help communicate policy, procedures and expectations to patrons.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Participate in various in-service training programs, including facility emergency procedures, water rescues, first aid and CPR skills.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent; experience working with youth preferred.
• Training in verbal de-escalation techniques.
• Training in security processes and procedures preferred.
• Must possess a valid Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certificate upon hire or earn within one month of hire.
• Must be 18 years old by the time of hire to apply.
• Must pass a background check as prescribed by the City of Davenport.
