- Second Shift Diesel Technician Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines and related systems on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance services, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and inspections.
  • Inspect, test, and repair brake systems, suspension components, steering systems, and driveline components.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fuel systems.
  • Utilize diagnostic software and equipment to identify mechanical and electronic issues.
  • Complete work orders accurately and document repairs, parts used, and labor performed.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure vehicles meet company and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Respond to road calls or emergency breakdowns as needed.
  • Communicate repair recommendations and equipment status with supervisors and fleet personnel.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining shop tools, equipment, and parts inventory.
Qualifications
  • Experience as a diesel technician, mechanic, or heavy equipment technician preferred.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, emissions systems, electrical diagnostics, and preventative maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and repair procedures.
  • Experience using computerized diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and working in various positions.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Comfortable working around heavy machinery, tools, and moving vehicles.
