Overview
Amentum is seeking a 2nd shift Facility Maintenance Plumber for our industrial operations & maintenance teams in Davenport, IA. Typical hours:
Monday - Friday 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. may vary based on customer demand.
- Respond to work orders, troubleshoot, and provide preventative maintenance on industrial or commercial facilities and utilities systems, including plumbing and mechanical equipment, motors, pumps, piping, drains, and related components.
- Assist in performing and responding to work orders for building equipment; inspect major equipment and operating systems and take corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure mechanical operations, standards, controls, and specifications are maintained at a high level of quality.
- Work with systems/equipment such as pumps, fans, cranes, heat exchangers, valves, etc.
- Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes; study building plans and drawings to determine work aids and installation sequence.
- Join pipes using appropriate methods and read pressure gauges to check for leaks; install and repair plumbing fixtures (sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, water softeners).
- Repair and maintain plumbing by replacing washers, mending pipes, clearing drains; may weld holding fixtures to steel structural members.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems; perform preventive maintenance such as lubrication and filter changes.
- Troubleshoot and repair blowers, fans, and heat exchange equipment; address basic electrical issues as needed.
- Perform basic pipe fitting repairs; work collaboratively within a team and with minimal supervision as required.
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain a safe work environment; comply with GMP where applicable.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance and plumbing.
- Hands-on experience in maintenance, repair, and operation of mechanical building systems, including plumbing, steam/hot water boilers, air handling units, pumps, compressors, air dryers, and exhaust systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; customer service-oriented and a collaborative team player.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Attention to detail and strong follow-up skills.
- Ability to read repair manuals and drawings; analyze problems, recommend solutions, and initiate repairs.
- Experience with SOPs and Work Instructions; follows safety procedures during maintenance tasks.
- Some travel may be required; must pass pre-employment substance abuse test; valid drivericense; able to obtain security access badge at client location.
- Willing to work overtime, various shifts, weekends, holidays, and alternate schedules.
- Associates degree or technical certification in Industrial Technology, Industrial Mechanical, or related program.
- Experience performing pipe fitting; valid CCCDI license or ability to obtain within one year.
- Regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
- Climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs multiple times per shift.
- Frequent bending, stooping, squatting; regular kneeling and repetitive movement; ability to move in tight spaces.
- Extend reach and walk extensively within the plant.
- Use of a company/client-approved utility knife; color differentiation for wire color-coding.
- Repetitive wrist movement and professional interaction with clients under stress.
- Wear steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other PPE as needed.
- Capable of coping with job demands and maintaining performance levels.
Salary range: $27 - $32 per hour. Compensation may vary based on factors such as responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, and applicable agreements.
