As a Representative and Champion for Airgas, the Plant Operator / Back-up Class A Shuttle Driver takes pride in the safe and reliable delivery and preparation of compressed gas products for our local and regional business partners. Operating from our Davenport, IA branch or plant location, you will safely handle, fill, load, and transport cylinders while building lasting relationships with the customers and locations you visit.

As a Plant Operator / Back-up Shuttle Driver at Airgas, you will be part of a supportive professional team that encourages your personal growth and internal mobility

• Cylinder Handling & Operations:
  Sort empty cylinders by type and safely handle high-pressure, medical, and liquid cylinders. Prepare cylinders and vessels for filling, safely fill gas products, and perform basic cylinder maintenance including painting, labeling, and workspace cleaning.
• Shuttle & Delivery Operations:
  Safely load, deliver, and unload compressed gas cylinders to local and regional customer places of business or Airgas locations, collecting empty cylinders as assigned. Move cylinders strictly using proper carts and transport equipment.
• Record Keeping & Compliance:
  Manage required shipping and vehicle documentation to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards. Accurately complete quality control sheets and maintain load manifests before and after deliveries.
• Safety & Inspection:
  Strictly adhere to all Airgas safety standards and government regulations. Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, document any deficiencies, ensure all safety items are in good working order, and promptly report any accidents or injuries to management.
• Warehouse & Equipment Support:
  Safely operate a pallet jack, forklift, and other material handling or warehouse equipment to support dock and facility operations.

Are you a MATCH?

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT (or able to obtain within 90 days from hire date) & Airbrake endorsements
• Maintain appropriate driver’s license, medical card & endorsements
• No more than two (2) traffic convictions: OR two (2) at-fault accident in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one (1) traffic conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last 3 years
• No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven (7) years
• Must be able to work in a drug-free environment
• Be able to regularly lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with the aid of material handling equipment
