Material Handler – 1st Shift (Shipping/Receiving & Forklift Operator)
This role combines hands-on material handling, shipping and receiving, and regular sit-down forklift operation within a clean, climate-controlled warehouse. You will safely move materials, operate a company van or truck for occasional deliveries, and support daily inventory and order fulfillment activities while working a consistent 1st shift schedule.
Responsibilities- Operate a sit-down forklift throughout the day to move, load, and unload materials safely and efficiently.
- Get on and off the forklift regularly to perform additional material handling and general labor tasks as needed.
- Drive a company van or a Ford F450 truck from time to time to transport shipments and complete deliveries.
- Receive daily shipments from vendors and verify the accuracy of incoming materials against purchase orders and documentation.
- Perform data entry for receipts of purchase orders using the company ERP/MRP system to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Locate, pull, and verify materials and supplies listed on work tickets to support production and order fulfillment.
- Use RF scanners to pick, pack, and track materials and inventory within the warehouse.
- Load and unload trucks and other vehicles, ensuring materials are handled safely and stored properly.
- Perform packing and material handling tasks to prepare items for shipment.
- Lift materials weighing up to 45–50 pounds as part of daily warehouse operations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area within the warehouse and shipping/receiving zones.
- 1–2 years of sit-down forklift operating and driving experience in a warehouse or similar environment.
- Ability to safely operate a sit-down forklift for extended periods while performing additional material handling tasks.
- Ability to drive a company van or truck (such as a Ford F450) for deliveries as needed.
- Experience with material handling, including loading, unloading, picking, and general labor tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 45–50 pounds safely and repeatedly.
- Basic data entry skills to process receipts of purchase orders in an ERP/MRP system.
- Ability to use RF scanners for inventory, picking, and packing activities.
- Strong attention to detail when verifying incoming shipments and pulling materials for work tickets.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in shipping and receiving operations is a plus.
- Previous use of ERP or MRP systems for inventory or order management is beneficial.
- Familiarity with packing, unloading, and general warehouse workflows.
- Comfort working in a structured, organized warehouse environment with established processes.
You will enjoy a stable 1st shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, supporting a healthy work-life balance. The facility is climate-controlled year-round, providing a comfortable work setting in both summer and winter. After 60 days of direct employment, you become eligible for medical and dental insurance. You receive 40 hours of paid time off after your first year, with additional time off and a 401(k) program available after one year.
You will work in a smaller, family-like environment where ownership is present in the building, offering clear communication and visibility into leadership.
Work Environment
The role is based in a very clean, well-lit, and organized warehouse facility. The environment is climate-controlled during both winter and summer months, helping maintain a comfortable temperature year-round. You will work a consistent 1st shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The culture is small and family-like, with a close-knit team and leadership present on-site. You will use sit-down forklifts, RF scanners, and an ERP/MRP system as part of daily operations, and occasionally operate a company van or Ford F450 to move shipments.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Davenport, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr.
