Job

Overview

As Ingersoll Rand continues to acquire and integrate businesses, the indirect tax team's scope continues to evolve. Step into the Indirect Tax Accountant role and take broad ownership of North American sales and use tax compliance while gaining exposure to analytics, systems, audits, process improvement, entity changes, and cross‑functional partnership. As part of the Finance Shared Service Center, you'll support entities operating across SAP and Oracle environments while helping integrate new entities, strengthen processes, advance tax technology initiatives, and improve how the team uses systems and analytics.

You'll ensure monthly compliance data is prepared accurately and on time, property tax returns and annual filings meet required deadlines, and tax notices, audits, and inquiries are handled with urgency and precision. You'll also own assigned legal entities, analyze compliance data, identify discrepancies, and coordinate with the third‑party provider responsible for preparing and filing returns—helping ensure filings are completed accurately and without penalties or interest.

This professional will also support sales and use tax audits by gathering data, researching issues, communicating with auditors, and partnering with leadership to resolve open items and reduce potential assessments. The right candidate will be detail‑oriented while understanding the broader business impact. They will manage competing deadlines, identify issues within complex data, stay ahead of state notices, communicate clearly, and bring forward ideas for improvement.

Experience with multi‑state sales and use tax filings, property tax, tax engines, ERP projects, and systems such as SAP, Oracle, Vertex, Avalara, and/or Certify Tax will stand out.

This is an excellent opportunity for an indirect tax professional seeking ownership, variety, systems exposure, and the ability to influence how indirect tax work is managed across a growing North American business.
