The Department of English at Davidson College invites applications for a two-year position in British Literature since 1800 at the Visiting Assistant Professor level with a start date of August 1, 2026. Completion or imminent completion of a Ph.D. in British literature is required, and undergraduate teaching experience is preferred. The teaching load is five courses per year. Courses for next year will include “British Literature since 1800,” “Desire: A Reading of British Literature or Global Anglophone Literature,” topics courses in British or Global Anglophone Literature (in any period since 1800), along with two first‑year writing courses aligned with the candidate’s area(s) of interest.
