Job Description & How to Apply Below
The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. and have expertise in Christian Theology generally and Reformed Theology in particular, with attention to its historical and contemporary developments. The successful candidate's teaching and research will also engage issues of ethics and justice in the contemporary world. Other areas of specialization are open, but competency in contextual theologies and/or world Christianities is especially welcome.
We seek an individual with an active research program, dedication to pedagogical growth and excellence, and who values their role as a mentor and advisor to students.
As a liberal arts college, Davidson is committed to collaborative intellectual life and research with undergraduates. The department of Religious Studies is excited to include the successful candidate in ongoing departmental conversations about the vital role of religious studies in the liberal arts curriculum. The college is a rich context for these conversations given its various initiatives, which include a collaboration with the Catawba Nation, the Davidson Forum, the D.G. and Harriet Wall Martin Institute for the Public Good, and the Trustee initiative on Reconciliation and Education.
Applicants should submit a (1) cover letter and (2) CV, as well as (3) the names and contact information for three people from whom letters of recommendation may be solicited at a later date. Because Davidson College is committed to access and opportunity for students from all backgrounds and perspectives, please include in your cover letter examples of how you have or will incorporate inclusive teaching and mentoring practices.
Other materials will be solicited from short-listed candidates at a later date. Application materials are due no later than September 18, 2026 and can be submitted online idson.edu.
