We are seeking skilled Diesel Mechanic C professionals with the knowledge and ability to perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on heavy-duty and light-duty trucks, including gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems.
Essential Job Functions- Assist drivers with daily post-trip inspections and vehicle safety checks
- Perform safety inspections during Safety Lane and preventative maintenance (PM) services
- Complete lubrication and maintenance on trucks as scheduled
- Perform brake inspections and complete proper documentation
- Conduct basic repairs on heavy-duty equipment:
Rear Load, Front Load, Roll Off, Grapple, Port-a-let, and other service trucks - Communicate vehicle issues and preventative solutions with technicians and drivers
- Complete paperwork and computer data entry accurately and on time
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area per corporate and OSHA standards
- Conduct repairs using Factory Service Manuals and maintain high standards of ethics and dependability
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Ability to assist with pre- and post-trip inspections
- Identify visible vehicle issues such as lights, mirrors, leaks, and body damage
- Perform fluid top-ups: oil, hydraulic fluids, transmission fluid, DEF, etc.
- Knowledge of tire inspections and air pressure adjustments
- Support technicians in repairing lights, wipers, mirrors, and other vehicle systems
- Understand and use lubrication charts; perform scheduled lubrication (training provided)
- Assist in repairs of engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, and body systems
- Knowledge of tools required for vehicle maintenance and repair
- Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation
- Participate in company-sponsored training programs as assigned
- Stay current with industry and Waste Pro technology relevant to your role
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor
- Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations
- Work may involve exposure to chemicals and residential waste
- Frequent walking, jogging, twisting, crouching, and lifting throughout the day
- Must have stamina to maintain a steady work pace
- Ability to use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Frequent in-and-out of commercial vehicle cabs (50-100 times/day)
- Lift, push, and pull 50-75 pounds at various heights (floor, waist, shoulder, overhead)
- Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting (100-200 times/day)
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions
- Work occurs both indoors and outdoors, with occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions
