Overview
A well-established organization in the Greater Sacramento/Davis area is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead and oversee day-to-day accounting operations. This role is responsible for the month-end close process, financial reporting, internal controls, and team leadership, while partnering cross-functionally to support strategic business decisions.
We are looking for a collaborative, hands‑on leader who enjoys improving processes, developing people, and ensuring accuracy and compliance across all accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee general ledger activities including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
- Prepare and review financial statements, KPIs, cash flow forecasts, and balance sheet budgets
- Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in compliance with US GAAP
- Ensure compliance with SOX / J‑SOX requirements across all accounting cycles
- Partner with third‑party providers on tax compliance and audit support
- Review consolidated financial reporting and variance analyses
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members; provide ongoing feedback and performance support
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to support operational and strategic initiatives
- Participate in special projects, ad‑hoc analysis, and process improvement efforts
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Advanced Excel skills; strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems (Microsoft Dynamics D365 experience a plus)
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
- Highly organized, proactive, and detail‑oriented
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required
- Progressive accounting or finance leadership experience required
- Prior people management or supervisory experience required
- Public accounting experience with a multi‑national firm strongly desired
